Rehabilitation
One recovery. One team. One clear plan.
Whether you’re getting ready for surgery or finding your way back from it, we’ll walk every stage of the journey with you – so you always know what’s happening, and why.
Your rehabilitation pathway
Prepare
We assess your body, understand your surgery or injury, and agree what a good outcome looks like for you.
Recover
Early-stage care focused on protecting the area, managing pain, and giving healing the best start.
Rebuild
Progressive strength, mobility and control work to rebuild what surgery or injury took away.
Return
A safe, confident return to work, sport, or everyday life with a plan for staying that way.
Preparing your body before surgery
Surgery outcomes aren’t only decided on the operating table – a lot comes down to the condition you’re in beforehand. Pre-operative physiotherapy, often called “prehab,” helps you go into surgery stronger, more mobile and better informed, so your recovery afterwards has the best possible foundation.
Understanding where you’re starting from
We begin with a full assessment of your strength, movement and everyday function, so we know exactly what to work on before your surgery date and have a clear baseline to measure your progress against afterwards.
Getting your body ready
In the weeks before surgery, we focus on strengthening the muscles around the surgical area and keeping the rest of your body strong. Before lower limb surgery, that might mean building upper body strength for crutches; before shoulder surgery, we’ll keep your legs and trunk strong for the weeks ahead.
Knowing what to expect
We talk you through what your surgery and recovery will actually involve. The exercises you’ll be doing afterwards, how to move safely on crutches or manage stairs, and a realistic timeline. So there are no surprises when you wake up.
Guided recovery after surgery
Recovering well after surgery takes the right guidance at the right time. We support you through every stage from the first careful steps of healing through to getting back to the activities you care about working alongside your surgical team the whole way.
A staged, step-by-step approach
Recovery moves through clear phases – protecting the area early on, restoring movement and strength in the middle stages, then building back toward full function. Knowing which phase you’re in keeps you progressing safely.
Keeping a close eye on your progress
We regularly check in on healing, swelling, movement and strength, adjusting your programme as you go. So if something needs attention, we catch it early rather than later.
Working alongside your surgeon
We follow the specific protocols set by your surgical team – things like weight-bearing limits or movement precautions – while shaping the rest of your plan around how you’re actually progressing.
