Fast, Accurate, Radiation-Free Imaging – Right Here in the Clinic
Getting a clear picture of what’s going on is the first step toward effective treatment. At New Plymouth Physiotherapy, we offer in-house diagnostic ultrasound scanning. Meaning you can get answers sooner, without waiting for an external referral.
Our scanning is performed by Lydia Radich, a physiotherapist trained through the Australian Institute of Ultrasound. Being a physiotherapist helps with accurate anatomical knowledge and diagnosis.
What is Diagnostic Ultrasound?
Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce real-time images of soft tissue structures beneath the skin. It’s non-invasive, safe, and doesn’t use radiation making it a reliable tool for assessing a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries.
Please note: ultrasound is a diagnostic tool, not a treatment.
What Can It Diagnose?
- Muscle tears
- Tendon injuries
- Ligament sprains and tears
- Nerve entrapment or injuries
- Fluid or inflammation within a joint
- Stress fractures
- Foreign bodies
