New Plymouth Physiotherapy is excited to offer diagnostic ultrasound scanning.
Lydia trained through the Australian Institute of Ultrasound.
Being a physiotherapist helps with accurate anatomical knowledge and diagnosis.
Ultrasound is a useful diagnostic tool which uses sound waves to assess and grade a variety of muscle, tendon, ligament, nerve and bony injuries.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive technique; it is a safe scanning tool which does not use radiation to produce an image.
Ultrasound is not a treatment technique.
Ultrasound within our clinic can be used to diagnose:
- Muscle tears
- Tendon injuries
- Ligament sprains/tears
- Nerve entrapment or injuries
- Fluid or inflammation within a joint
- Stress fractures
- Foreign bodies
